4 Free Social Media Monitoring Tools

Free social media monitoring tools

There are myriad social media monitoring tools – some are free, others not so much (yes, I am talking to you, Radian6). But of the free social media monitoring tools, the following will probably give you the most bang for your buck.

Topsy allows you to search by location, keywords you want to include, the sentiment for particular tweets, and even allows you to select how far back in time you would like to search.

With Icerocket, you can easily track mentions on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and even see if anyone posted images related to your company on Flickr.

Social Mention

Social Mention searches content across the universe… at least that’s what they say they are doing while you wait for the results. As well as being a pretty intuitive search engine, this site offers you the option to receive email alerts every time there’s new content across social media that contains your keyword(s).

By now, you have certainly heard of Klout, a social media tool that gives you a ranking based on your social media presence and influence. As well, Klout also provides analytics regarding how far you have come and how well you are doing in the social media realm as well. This tool is best used to benchmark against your competitors.

Any more free social media monitoring tools?

Other free social media monitoring tools that were once free are being scooped up by popular social media websites like Twitter, so before you know it, even these free social media monitoring tools won’t be free for much longer.

  1. Hootsuite. It’s all about Hootsuite. It allows you to monitor multiple accounts across twitter, FB, wordpress, and others. You can even turn Searches into their own stream and save them, so for example you could have a constant and realtime stream of instances of the words “Rosy Saadeh” on twitter or FB.

It’s free, and Canadian made. Even the White House uses it.
